Russian, German foreign ministers discuss Ukraine, Syria, Libya

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel have discussed several pressing international problems on the sidelines of informal consultations between the foreign policy chiefs of the Group of Twenty (G20) countries in Bonn.

"The interlocutors had a detailed exchange of opinions on acute international problems with an emphasis on multilateral efforts to settle Ukrainian and Syrian crises and normalize the situation in Libya," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website.

"The ministers discussed the current situation in Russian-German relations and a number of practical issues of the bilateral agenda," the statement said.

This is the first personal meeting between the two ministers after Gabriel's recent appointment as German foreign minister.
