KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The headquarters of Ukrainian radical activists who are veterans of the war in Donbas said they intend to continue the railway blockade on the areas of eastern Ukraine uncontrolled by Kyiv.
"The blockade will continue! All threats made by the corrupt authorities show that we are on the right track," the headquarters said in a statement posted on its Facebook account on Thursday.
The headquarters warned that there is a risk that police could storm the blockade fortifications. However, "this would not influence Ukrainian patriots' decision to stop the trading in blood and financing of terrorism," the statement says.
Ukrainian radicals have blocked the Horske-Zolote section of the Luhansk-Lysychansk-Popasna railway since January 25 on the pretext of preventing trade with the part of Ukraine uncontrolled by Kyiv.
On January 26, Ukrainian prosecutors opened a criminal case into the railway blockade on charges of "the blocking of transport lines."
The blockade has led to an acute shortage of coal for the Ukrainian energy and metallurgy industries, which prompted the government to impose a state of emergency in the national energy sector.
