Twenty-two troops buried by avalanche in southern Kazakhstan, 6 rescued - emergencies committee

ASTANA. Feb 17 (Interfax) - According to tentative information, a total of 22 troops have been buried by an avalanche in a mountains area in southern Kazakhstan, and six of them have been rescued, Ruslan Imankulov, a spokesperson for the Kazakh Interior Ministry's emergency situations committee, told Interfax on Friday.

"Tentative information indicates that 22 service members were buried by the avalanche. Four of them were rescued by a ranger, and another two were found alive during the search and rescue operation. They are now receiving the necessary medical assistance," Imankulov said.
