MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - An Aerospace Forces surface-to-air missile (SAM) regiment armed with the new S-400 Triumf system will be deployed on Tuesday, February 21, to provide air defense for Moscow and Russia's Central Industrial District, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Operating crews of a SAM regiment of the Aerospace Forces air defense unit in the Moscow region finished preparing SAM systems and technical positions for the air defense mission in the designated responsibility zone," the ministry's press service said in a statement obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
With the deployment of the new S-400 SAM systems, already five SAM regiments armed with S-400 Triumf SAM systems will be providing air defense for Moscow and Russia's Central Industrial District.
