No plans to expand Normandy Quartet; U.S. agrees to it - German foreign minister

MUNICH. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The format of the Normandy Quartet (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) on the Donbas settlement will not be expanded, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said.

"We talked to U.S. State Secretary Rex Tillerson about the format's expansion. We have agreed on the contacts with the U.S. But we believe that the existing format should be preserved. The U.S. has agreed to that," Gabriel told reporters in Munich on Saturday.

The next ministerial meeting is to be held "within a few weeks", he said.

"We will be talking about the political process, which will be the most difficult thing, but without the regime of calm and withdrawal of weapons, we won't be able to start that [process]," Gabriel said.
