Russia successful in developing super-fast helicopter - Rogozin

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russia keeps up with the United States in developing a super-fast helicopter, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

"We are working on the concept of a super-fast helicopter. Our prototype is not inferior to the U.S. one," Rogozin said on the Rossiya-1 (VGTRK) channel.

"I'd rather not give you any figures so far. Let it be a surprise when we deem necessary to disclose them," he said.

Col. Yevgeny Poluyanov, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's 220th military representative office, had said in October 2016 that a prospective helicopter Russia was working on had reached an operating speed of 405 kilometers per hour during tests.

Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov also told reporters in October 2016 that Russia might start the serial production of its new super-fast helicopters currently undergoing trials as part of the new state armament program for 2018-2025.
