BAKU. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said he will visit Russia in March to discuss with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov bilateral relations and the situation in Karabakh.
"An official visit to Russia is scheduled for March. Bilateral relations will be evaluated during the meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov," Mammadyarov told a briefing on Friday.
Meetings will be held in the Russian government and the State Duma during the visit, Mammadyarov said. He also said he plans to deliver a lecture in the Russian Diplomatic Academy.
The situation in Karabakh will also be addressed during the visit, he said. "The meetings with the Russian side in March will address issues relating to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Clearly, the conflict cannot be settled overnight. But we should get things moving," Mammadyarov said.
"Everyone knows how the conflict should be settled," he said.
"The plan exists already," the Azeri foreign minister said.
In order for the conflict settlement to be moved "off the dead center" the Armenian troops have to be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Armenia, the minister said.
