GENEVA. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Representatives of the Free Syrian Army stand for maintaining Syria's unity, but are ready to change the name of the country to make the republic more comfortable for the Kurdish minority, Col. Fares al-Babesh, a representative of the armed opposition group and the Free Syrian Army, told Interfax.
"The Free Syrian Army stands for the unity of Syria and will not accept federalization of the country. We are against any projects dividing the country," he said.
"We want the state, which would be capable of defending the rights and interests of all residents of this country," al-Babesh said.
"We are not against the removal of the word 'Arab' for the name of the Syrian state and leaving just the word 'republic,'" he said.
"We are ready to give some space to the Kurds in this sense, for them to feel more comfortable," al-Babesh said.
