DUSHANBE. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russia and Tajikistan favor the earliest possible national reconciliation in Afghanistan and are ready to give Kabul the necessary assistance in the negotiation process, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Discussing the complicated Afghan situation, the parties spoke out for a swift achievement of national reconciliation in the country and stated that they are ready to give Kabul assistance in promoting the negotiation process," Putin told a news conference after talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.
Moscow and Dushanbe share concerns over terrorist groups, including ISIL, spreading their influence in Afghanistan and over the explosive increase in drug trafficking and cross-border crime, Putin added.
