KAZAN. March 14 (Interfax) - A total of 15 leaders and active members of the regional cell of the Hizb ut-Tahrir international terrorist organization were detained in Tatarstan, the Russian Interior Ministry's department for Tatarstan said on Tuesday.
"As a result of joint search and investigative measures, officials of Tatarstan's Interior Ministry, Russian Federal Security Service' department for the Republic of Tatarstan and the directorate of the Russian Federal Service of the National Guard Forces for the Republic of Tatarstan have identified the activities of two organized criminal groups which are the units of the Kazan cell of the Party of the Islamic Liberation international terrorist organization (Hizb ut-Tahrir)," the press service for the republic's Interior Ministry said.
Operatives "detained 15 leaders and active members of the regional cell of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami international terrorist organization" on March 14, 2017, the police said.
Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami is a terrorist group banned in Russia.
