Topics discussed in Astana should not be limited to Syrian settlement's military aspects, those discussed in Geneva to political aspects - Lavrentyev

ASTANA. March 14 (Interfax) - The parties to the Astana talks should not be limited to discussing solely military aspects and the parties to Geneva talks to political aspects of the Syrian settlement, Alexander Lavrentyev, the Russian delegation head and the presidential envoy for Syria, said.

"One shouldn't be limited to discussing solely military issues in Astana and political ones in Geneva. They are closely interconnected and complementary," Lavrentyev told reporters at a news conference in Astana on Tuesday.

"Therefore, we believed it was necessary to maintain a high level of initiative regarding proposals, which we want to see from other guarantor states as well," he said.
