ASTANA. March 14 (Interfax) - Participants in the Astana negotiations are discussing the issues of the ceasefire and control over its observance, the punishment of those violating the ceasefire and the prisoner swap, Russian special presidential envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said.
"Priority issues are those pertaining to strengthening the ceasefire regime, that's exactly the pretext under which the Syrian opposition's delegation didn't come here. In addition to the ceasefire regime, those are various aspects of monitoring over the regime and the issue of developing some mechanism to punish those violating the ceasefire," Lavrentyev said at a briefing on Tuesday.
"A very interesting point raised by the Russian side is the issue of forming the working group on the exchange of captives held by the conflicting parties," he said.
