KYIV. March 15 (Interfax) - All motorways and railroads running toward the contact line in Donbas will be blocked by 1:00 p.m. Kyiv time on March 15, consistent with a Ukrainian National Defense and Security Council (NSDC) decision, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said on Wednesday.
"I'd like to inform you that the National Police and the National Guard will block all motorways and railroads leading to the contact line by 1 p.m. today, consistent with the National Security and Defense Council's decision," Turchynov told the press after the NSDC meeting.
Earlier on Wednesday, the NSDC supported the temporary but complete suspension of transport communication with certain territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions not controlled by Kyiv in light of the seizure of Ukrainian enterprises and the escalation of the conflict in Donbas.
Acknowledging the drastic escalation [of the conflict] in eastern Ukraine and "violent seizure of Ukrainian enterprises in the territory of certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," and "bearing in mind the escalation of threats to the country's economic and energy security" and taking into consideration that "Russia has started to recognize 'documents' of the self-proclaimed republics at the state level," the NSDC decided to temporarily stop the movement of goods through the contract line, until the implementation of Articles 1 and 2 [security measures] of the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements dated February 12, 2015, and until the seized enterprises are returned to Ukraine's jurisdiction, Turchynov said.
