ASTANA. March 15 (Interfax) - Iran has officially become a guarantor country for implementing the ceasefire agreements in Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, the head of the Russian delegation at the talks in Astana and the presidential envoy for Syria, said on Wednesday.
"Another outcome of today's consultations is Iran's decision to officially sign a document to join the agreement as a guarantor country. Hence, now Iran, along with Russia and Turkey, is officially a guarantor country in implementing the obligation it assumed," Lavrentyev said at a news briefing on Wednesday.
