MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Japan may discuss the possible deployment of a Russian Defense Ministry division in the Kuril Islands at upcoming consultations in the 2+2 format between the Japanese and Russian foreign and defense ministers in Tokyo, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said.
"If this causes Tokyo to ask questions, then I think the matter may be raised during the upcoming 2+2 meetings. But our partners should also be prepared to provide explanations for some questions regarding Japan's military development that the Russian side has," Morgulov said in an interview with Japan's Jiji Press news agency.
