LPR claims to have foiled terror plot against its military commissary

LUHANSK. March 17 (Interfax) - Officers from the interior ministry of the self-proclaimed Luhansk people's republic (LPR) have prevented a terror attack against the LPR military commissary, ministry representative Alexei Selivanov said.

"On March 16, the LPR interior ministry prevented a terror attack against the military commissary of our republic, Ihor Marshuba. On the morning of March 16, a group of investigators from the interior ministry visited Ihor Marshuba'd home address and discovered an improvised explosive device. The improvised explosive device was de-activated by interior ministry officers," Selivanov told journalists.

"According to preliminary assessments, a terrorist attack was attempted by representatives of Ukrainian security services," he said.

LPR interior minister Ihor Kornet said earlier that the ministry officers had prevented a major terror attack in the southern part of Luhansk.

"While working to resolve the murder of [senior LPR militia official] Col. Oleg Anashchenko, interior ministry operatives also prevented yet another major terror attack that was being plotted by a subversive group in the southern quarters of our Luhansk," Kornet said at a press conference on Wednesday.
