VLADIVOSTOK. March 21 (Interfax) - Customs officers in Russia's Primorye territory have confiscated several boxes with aircraft components from a Chinese citizen who was exiting Russia through the Pogranichny border crossing point, the Ussuriysk customs department's press service said.
The Chinese citizen told customs officers that he was not taking anything out of Russia that must be declared.
The boxes contained "ten aircraft switches, an aircraft indicator and an electric-powered engine intended for aircraft," the press service said.
Some elements of these spare parts were made using precious metals.
The foreigner said that he had received the components from another Chinese man at a bus terminal in the city of Ussuriysk.
An administrative offence case has been opened into the Chinese citizen's failure to declare the goods. A criminal inquiry may be launched on a count of smuggling of weapons, military hardware and strategically important commodities, depending on the results of an examination.
