Russia has big arms development potential - Kozhin

MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - Russian armaments and military hardware are in great demand and have a competitive edge on the global market, presidential aide for military-technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin said.

"Our weapons are absolutely efficient in terms of the price-quality ratio criterion, which is often used in that community. There is a huge demand for Russian weapons," Kozhin told the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) TV channel in an interview on Thursday.

"Our development has been rather efficient in the field of military science, research and production centers, and research institutes. They are making very good progress. Very solid groundwork has been laid," Kozhin said.

Rostec state corporation head Sergei Chemezov said earlier in March that the demand for Russian weapons had been growing amid the military campaign in Syria.

The state arms export agency Rosoboronexport has posted orders for exports of weapons and military hardware amounting to $46 billion, he said.

Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov had said at the IDEX 2017 defense show in Abu Dhabi on February 20 that Russia would export approximately $14 billion worth of armaments and military hardware in 2017.
