Number of passenger security checks soars in Moscow metro - deputy mayor

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - Tightened security measures in the Moscow metro will be in effect until further notice, and the number of security checks will be increased, Moscow Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov said.

"In compliance with the Moscow administration's order, the Moscow metro has tightened security measures and has increased the number of security employees in the check zones," Liksutov told Interfax on Monday.

Police patrols have been put on alert in the metro, Liksutov said. "The number of security inspections will be raised, and extra patrols with police dog handlers will be mobilized. This regime will be in effect until further notice. We ask the Muscovites to take the higher number of security checks with understanding," Liksutov said.
