Airports, airlines must step up security after tragedy in St. Petersburg - Rosaviatsia

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) has demanded that all Russian airports and airlines take extra measures to ensure transport security following the explosion in the St. Petersburg metro on Monday, the agency told Interfax.

"Due to the explosion at an underground station in St. Petersburg, Rosaviatsia sent out a directive to all airports and airlines to take extra measures to ensure transport (aviation) security measures in order to prevent and foil possible acts of unlawful intervention, including those of a terrorist nature," the agency said.
