MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - Russia will continue to redeploy rocket forces units particularly in the Kaliningrad region as part of the Armed Forces combat training plan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Rocket forces' units have been repeatedly transferred and will be transferred as part of the Russian Armed Forces combat training plan, in particular, to the Kaliningrad region. This is happening on the territory of Russia and does not run counter to any international treaties or agreements," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary published on the ministry website.
"As to the deployment of Iskander mobile missile systems in the Kaliningrad region, we again would like to call attention to the fact that the Russian side has never concealed that similar military events are being carried out," the ministry said.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said earlier in an interview with the Kommersant edition that the deployment of Iskander missile systems had proved a tendency for militarization and tightening of Russia's control over the air space, and many alliance members, who are Russian neighbors, view it as a threat to their security.
