UNITED NATIONS (New York). April 7 (Interfax) - The aggression by the United States in Syria is only helping consolidation of terrorism in the territory of the republic, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Vladimir Safronkov said.
"Right after the [U.S.] missile strike, the Islamic State and [Jabhat] al-Nusra [terrorist organizations outlawed in Russia] launched a massive attack on the positions of the Syrian Armed Forces," Safronkov said at the UN Security Council extraordinary meeting on Syria.
"The Syrian Armed Forces have been and remain the main institution of the antiterrorist struggle in the Syrian Arab Republic," he said.
