Russian Baltic Fleet unit to drill in Northern Atlantic

MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax-AVN) - A unit of the Russian Baltic Fleet will conduct submarine search and surface target tracking drills in the Northern Atlantic.

"Crews of Kamov Ka-27 helicopters of Baltic Fleet aviation based on corvettes will drill in Atlantic airspace; they will be chasing submarines of a simulated enemy and tracking down surface targets," the Western Military District said in a report seen by Interfax-AVN on Monday.

The Baltic Fleet unit departed from Baltiysk on April 7 and headed for the Northern Atlantic "to accomplish a series of training missions," the district staff said.
