BAKU. April 1 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has spoken in favor of broadening cooperation between the special services of Azerbaijan and Russia, the press service of Azerbaijan's State Security Service said.
"It is important to broaden cooperation between the two countries' relevant institutions in countering common threats in order to ensure stability, security and development within the framework of the policy being pursued by the leadership and the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia for the benefit of the peoples' prosperity," Patrushev said at a meeting with Azerbaijani State Security Service head Madat Guliyev in Baku on Tuesday.
Guliyev, for his part, informed Patrushev about the reforms under way in Azerbaijan's law enforcement system and state-building, including the country's socioeconomic development and measures to bolster stability and security.
"During the meeting, the parties also discussed prospects for mutual efficient cooperation in the security field," it said.
