Counterproductive to try to pass UN SC resolution accusing Damascus instead of calling for inquiry into Idlib incident - Lavrov

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Attempts to pass a United Nations Security Council resolution on the chemical attack in Idlib, accusing Damascus of the incident, are counterproductive, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We believe it is counterproductive to try to pass a UN SC resolution that would focus less on investigating this incident and more on legitimizing the accusations which apriori accuse Damascus of what happened," Lavrov told a press conference after talks with United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
