Moscow. April 13 (Interfax) - One should concentrate efforts on working out future form of government in Syria rather than on toppling incumbent Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in order to solve Syrian crisis, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday.
"The most important thing is not to remove one or another figure from the political scene but to come to an agreement on how the Syrian state will be organized so that it is democratic and secular," Lavrov said after talks with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Moscow on Wednesday night.
"As soon as such consensus is reached, and this should be done through elaborating new constitution [of Syria], the issues relating to the future of specific figures, I am sure, will be resolved much more efficiently and with no tragic consequences for the state and the people", he said.
