MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Moscow considers it necessary to prevent the derailing of the Astana and Geneva negotiations on Syria and warned against the attempts to undermine ceasefire in the country.
"Against the backdrop of the western hysteria, it is crucial not to yield to provocations and not to permit a collapse of efforts in the framework of the Astana process and of the Geneva process," Lavrov said before talks with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem in Moscow on Thursday.
There have been attempts to undermine the ceasefire in Syria which was negotiated at the meetings in Astana, Lavrov said.
"Attempts are being made to undermine the ceasefire in Syria," the minister said.
He also stressed the "provocative role" of the United States' strike against a Syrian military airfield.
