MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has recorded 16 ceasefire violations in Syria in the past 24 hours, while Turkey recorded eight such violations, which Russia did not confirm, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
"The Russian delegation to the joint Russian-Turkish commission dealing with violations of the joint agreement has recorded 16 ceasefire violations in the past 24 hours, including eight in the Damascus governorate, four in the Hama governorate, three in the Latakia governorate, and one in the Daraa governorate," the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria said in a news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry's website.
The Turkish delegation recorded eight ceasefire violations, including five in the Idlib governorate, two in the Damascus governorate, and one in the Daraa governorate, the center said.
"It was established in an inquiry that Russia did not confirm any of the eight violations," the bulletin said.
The government troops took control two square kilometers of territory in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The government troops have liberated a total of 3,949 square kilometers of land since January 1, 2017.
