LUHANSK. April 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian armed forces have launched one attack on the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the LPR militia told Interfax on Tuesday.
"The Ukrainian forces committed one ceasefire breach over the day, using a mounted automatic grenade launcher, a ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, and small arms. LPR militia positions came under attack in the vicinity of Pervomaisk," the militia spokesman said.
The attack did not inflict any casualties or damage, he said.
A spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Defense Ministry told the press later in the day that "the Ukrainian armed forces breached the truce 32 times in the past 24 hours. In all, the Ukrainian army shelled 16 populated localities in the republic using tanks, mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers, and small arms."
For its part, Kyiv accused the militias of attacking Ukrainian army positions.
The military operation staff reported 32 attacks on Ukrainian armed forces' positions over the past day and the injury of one soldier.
"The Mariupol sector remains the epicenter of gunfire exchanges," the staff said on Facebook.
In the Mariupol sector, the militia fired 120mm mortars and infantry fighting vehicle weapons in Novohryhorivka, 82mm mortars in Chermalyk, heavy machineguns in Maryinka, infantry fighting vehicle weapons, anti-tank grenade launchers and heavy machineguns in Vodyane, and grenade launchers and small arms in Shyrokyne, Talakivka and Pavlopil, the staff said, adding that snipers were active in the vicinity of Talakivka and Vodyane.
"The hostiles fired 82mm mortars, grenade launchers and heavy machineguns on positions near Avdiivka in the Donetsk sector. Anti-tank grenade launchers, heavy machineguns and small arms were engaged in attacks on strongholds near the Butovka Mine. Heavy machineguns and small arms were fired on the defenders of Kamyanka," the staff said.
In the Luhansk sector, Katerynivka came under attack of 82mm mortars and automatic grenade launchers, and anti-tank grenade launchers were used against Novooleksandrivka, the staff said.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported referencing the Donetsk regional police that one residential building was razed, another one was partially destroyed, and six sustained damage during bombardments of Avdiivka.
