MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax-AVN) - A fighter-aircraft regiment based in the Tver region has been put into the highest state of combat readiness as part of a tactical flight exercise that has begun in the Western Military District, the district's spokesperson told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
"During the exercise, which involves crews of MiG-31BM and [Sukhoi] Su-28 fighter-interceptors, the fighter aircraft pilots and engineers will practice readying the equipment for flying out, avoiding mock enemy strikes, and redeploying to tactical airfields," the spokesperson said.
In addition, the crews will execute the tasks of intercepting aircraft violating the national border, and launch electronic strikes against mock enemy cruise missiles and strategic bombers.
The exercise involves around 50 troops and more than MiG-31BM and Su-27 fighters.
