Bill on annulling decisions on granting Russian citizenship to convicted terrorists recalled for adjustments - Duma source

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - The bill proposed by the leaders of the four Duma factions, which would allow for annulling decisions on granting Russian citizenship to people convicted for terrorism has been recalled for adjustments and will be re-submitted, a Duma source told Interfax.

"The bill has been recalled as there are technical imperfections in its text, which should be urgently eliminated. It will be re-submitted," the source said.

The amendments to the law on citizenship were submitted to the State Duma on April 18 by the four Duma faction leaders, i.e. Vladimir Vasilyev (United Russia), Vladimir Zhirinovsky (Liberal Democratic Party), Sergei Mironov (A Just Russia) and Gennady Zyuganov (Communist Party).

The authors have proposed that a person's conviction for a terrorism-related crime be formally listed among the grounds for cancelling a decision on granting him or her Russian citizenship.
