Two Ukrainian servicemen killed, 8 injured in Donbas in past 24 hours - Ukrainian Defense Ministry

KYIV/LUHANSK/DONETSK. April 21 (Interfax) - Two Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and eight suffered injuries in Donbas in the past 24 hours, Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

The same information had been released earlier by the army operation staff, which also reported 47 attacks on Ukrainian armed forces' positions in Donbas over the previous day.

"Two Ukrainian servicemen have been killed and eight sustained injuries and traumas in hostilities over the past 24 hours. The injured men include three servicemen of the Ukrainian National Guard, and the rest belong to the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

For its part, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) militia reported four Ukrainian army attacks on its territory over the previous day.

"The Ukrainian military breached the ceasefire four times over the past 24 hours, using 120mm and 82mm mortars, a mounted automatic grenade launcher, an anti-tank grenade launcher, a BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle, and small arms. LPR militia positions came under attack near Frunze, Kalynove-Borshchuvate, Pervomaisk and Kalynivka," the spokesman said.

The attacks did not inflict any casualties or damage, he said.

A spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Defense Ministry said, "The Ukrainian armed forces breached the truce 38 times over the past day."

"In all, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked 13 populated localities in the republic, using tanks, mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers, and small arms," he said.

Attacks on Dokuchayivsk and Spartak inflicted damage on residential areas, he said.
