Russian Foreign Ministry views as politicized French court's decision to release from custody Kosovo guerilla commander Haradinaj

MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Serbian Prime Minster Aleksandar Vucic had a telephone conversation on Thursday at the initiative of the Serbian side, the Russian Foreign ministry said.

"Lavrov emphasized that Russia is sharing Serbia's deep concern over the apparently politicized decision of the French court announced on April 27 to release from custody the notorious leader of Kosovo militants, Ramush Haradinaj, ignoring Belgrade's request submitted through Interpol," the ministry said in a statement.

"We believe that all those Kosovo politicians involved in war crimes must face due punishment, regardless of those positions they are holding now," it said.

"The manifestation of double standards by Paris is an indicative illustration of connivance a face to face with the increasingly aggressive line towards realization of the Great Albania project fraught with demolition of fragile stability and recurrence of the bloody conflict in the Balkans," the Russian ministry said on its website.

"In the course of the conversation, the sides reiterated the mutual focus on strengthening and developing of the strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia and on interacting closely in implementation of joint projects," the Russian Foreign ministry said.
