BAKU. May 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Azerbaijan and Turkey have assigned approximately 1,000 servicemen for joint tactical exercises, an Interfax correspondent reported.
The exercises involve up to 80 pieces of military hardware, over 60 artillery systems and mortars, 12 Mil Mi-35 combat helicopters and Mil Mi-17 transport helicopters of the Azerbaijani Air Force, in addition to anti-aircraft missile systems.
Joint Azerbaijani-Turkish tactical exercises with live-fire drills started in Azerbaijan on Monday and are to last until May 5.
The purpose of the exercises is to exchange experience between the Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces, develop coordination and joint planning by staffs, and bolster the preparedness and capacity of units for the accomplishment of their missions.
