Russia, Turkey, Iran to compile maps of safety zones in Syria by June 4 - memorandum

ASTANA. May 4 (Interfax) - The guarantor countries will complete the compiling of the maps of de-escalation zones and safety zones, as well as the maps for separating armed opposition from terrorists by June 4, the memorandum on the establishment of de-escalation zones indicated.

The guarantor countries will undertake certain steps to finalize the devising of the maps of de-escalation zones and safety zones, as well as the maps for dividing armed opposition groups and previously mentioned terrorist groups Daesh/ISIL, Front al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda (which are outlawed in Russia) by June 4, 2017, the document said.

The joint working group will prepare the maps of de-escalation zones and safety zones by the aforementioned date for their coordination by the guarantor countries, as well as a blueprint of the Regulations of the joint working group, it said.

The joint working group will report about its activity at ongoing high-level international meetings on Syria in Astana, the memorandum said.
