SHAKHTARSK (Donetsk region). May 10 (Interfax) - Six explosive devices stuffed with striking elements were installed on the motorway near the memorial Savur-Mohyla, Alexander Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), said.
"Six explosive devices went off, they were stuffed with striking elements. Security will be tightened on May 9," Zakharchenko said.
Two explosions occurred on a motorway in the Shakhtarsk district of the Donetsk region, where Zakharchenko was expected to come, on Monday morning.
An official with the DPR leader's administration told reporters the explosions have been classed as a terrorist attack.
A memorial event devoted to the Victory Day, in which the DPR leader was expected to participate, was expected to be held at the memorial complex Savur-Mohyla.
Savur-Mohyla is a burial mound in the Shakhtarsk district of the Donetsk region. A memorial was created on Savur-Mohyla after the Great Patriotic War. The memorial was badly damaged in the fighting between the Ukrainian troops and the DPR militia in August 2014.
