MiG-35 state-of-the-art fighter undergoing tests successfully - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. May 10 (Interfax) - The Russian military officials are pleased with the Mikoyan MiG-35 state-of-the-art fighter, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said.

"Tests are keeping up with schedule. This is a good engine," Borisov told Interfax on Tuesday.

The Russian deputy defense minister refrained from answering questions as to when the fighter will be put into service and when a contract for its large-scale production will be signed.

The MiG-35 is a 4++ generation aircraft, the latest fighter in the MiG aircraft family. It has avionics allowing it to use all air-to-surface weapons.

The MiG-35 is armed with advanced weapons that were not previously exported. They include long-range weapons that allow them to attack targets without entering air defense zones. The aircraft is capable of accomplishing air-to-air, air-to-surface and air-to-ship missions.
