Stepanakert reports movement of Azerbaijani tanks, mortar, cannon strikes

YEREVAN/BAKU. May 11 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces relocated its armored hardware on the line of contact with military units of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) on Wednesday afternoon, the NKR Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

In particular, Azerbaijan's Armed Forces moved around ten tanks toward Tap Qaraqoyunlu-Talish in the northern sector of the contact line and then returned them to their initial positions, it said.

The Azerbaijani military breached the truce more than 65 times and fired around 1,700 shots on May 10 and overnight into May 11, it said.

"The Armed Forces of Azerbaijani used 82mm mortars (four projectiles) and D-44 cannons (eight projectiles) in the Martakert defensive sector. Forward units of the NKR Defense Army counteracted in order to suppress the adversary's activity. The situation along the contact line is quiet at the moment," the ministry said.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's press service said for its part that the Armenian military had committed 120 truce violations using large-caliber machineguns along the frontline in the conflict area over the previous 24 hours.

The gunfire was directed both from Armenia's territory and "the occupied Azerbaijani lands," the ministry said.
