There is no problem in Arctic requiring solution by force - Lavrov

FAIRBANKS. May 12 (Interfax) - There is not a single problem in the Arctic that could be resolved by force, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We do not see any issues that would require a solution by force. All of our partners agree with that," Lavrov told reporters in Alaska on Friday.

When commenting on the freezing of the format of meetings between General Staff chiefs from the Arctic Council countries, Lavrov said: "It seems to me that if there is an interest in ensuring trust and broadening interaction and mutual understanding, it was probably counterproductive, and, in my opinion, they have started to think whether it was right to make such a decision that froze this very useful format."
