ST. PETERSBURG. May 17 (Interfax) - A Serbian military delegation has paid an official visit to St. Petersburg, the press service for the Western Military District told Interfax on Tuesday.
The delegation will take part in a conference devoted to a joint training that will be held in August.
"In accordance with the program of the foreign partners' visit, the first planning conference on the upcoming joint company tactical training of the motorized units of the two friendly countries will take place in the Northern capital," the report said.
"According to the current plans, the maneuvers will take place at a training base of the motorized unit of the Western Military District in the Leningrad region in August 2017," the Western Military District said.
Col. Gen. Andrei Kartapolov, commander of the Western Military District troops, visited Serbia in October 2016 in accordance with the international activities plan. There, he had a number of meetings with Serbian Defense Ministry officials, which addressed the issue of the possibility of joint tactical exercises.
Members of the military delegation are also expected to go on excursions to St. Petersburg places of interest, the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's cathedral and the museum ship Avrora.
