U.S. bill on sanctions against Syrian govt's allies destructive - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - The bills on sanctions against Syrian allies in the United States are destructive, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"This cranking out of papers, we perfectly understand why this is being done: to constantly keep the topic of Syria and Russia afloat and produce the appearance of working. Regrettably, nothing constructive can be expected from such statements," Zakharova said at a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday, in commenting on the bill obliging the U.S. president to impose sanctions on the allies of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, which the U.S. House passed on Wednesday.
