MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Moscow and Beijing express mutual concern about development of Pyongyang's nuclear and missile program and disproportionate military activities of the United States and its allies in Northeast Asia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
"The parties expressed mutual concern over a serious deterioration of the situation in the region provoked by Pyongyang's continuing implementation of nuclear and missile programs, as well as disproportionate military activities of the U.S. and its allies, including the deployment of THAAD missile defense systems to South Korea," the ministry said on its website following a meeting of co-chairs of the ongoing Russian-Chinese Dialogue on Security in Northeast Asia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou, in Moscow on Monday.
"Both parties pointed out the need to take measures to de-escalate tensions and address the issues of the Korean Peninsula in terms of general lessening of military and political tensions and dismantling the confrontational architecture in Northeast Asia," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
