T-50 aircraft, S-500 air defense weapons to ensure non-nuclear deterrence of any hi-tech aggressor - Shoigu

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Deliveries of T-50 frontline aircraft and S-500 air defense weapons to the Russian Armed Forces will boost their capability of opposing aerospace attack weapons, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"Deliveries of the T-50 prospective frontline aircraft to the Armed Forces starting from 2019 and S-500 air defense weapons from 2020 will boost their efficiency in countering modern aerospace attack weapons," Shoigu said at the Federation Council on Wednesday.

"The implementation of these plans will create a reliable shield against the enemy's prompt global strike and will ensure non-nuclear deterrence of any hi-tech aggressor," he said.
