VERSAILLES. May 29 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the sanctions imposed on Russia do not help the settlement of the conflict in south-eastern Ukraine and called for taking efforts to lift economic restrictions in the world.
Asked by journalists about the way the sanctions against Russia will help resolve the crisis in south-eastern Ukraine, Putin said: "They will not help it at all."
In this regard, he addressed to French media representatives at a press conference following the talks with French President Emmanuel Macron: "Fight for dropping any restrictions in the world economy."
"Only the abolishment of all restrictions, a free market and a free competition, which is honest and is not burdened by political considerations and time-serving instruments, can help develop the world economy and will promote the settlement of such tasks as the combating of unemployment, the increase in the living level of our citizens," the Russian president said.
