VERSAILLES. May 30 (Interfax) - France and Russia can take joint efforts to advance a settlement in Syria, French President Emmanuel Macron said.
"As to Syria, I reminded [Russian President Vladimir Putin] what our priorities have been, and I think we will be able to work together on this path within the next week, at least this is my wish," Macron said at a press conference following his talks with Putin on Monday.
"Our absolute priority is the fight against terrorism and elimination of terrorist groups, in particular, ISIL [outlawed in Russia]," the French president said.
"This is a guiding line for Syria and I would like that we could foster our partnership with Russia, along with the work within the framework of the coalition," Macron said.
