MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - The agreements on the fight against terrorism reached recently by Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron are very timely, and the composition of a relevant task force is currently being considered, Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.
"It is a very positive signal; there is an understanding of the necessity of uniting efforts in combating terrorism. The decision made by the presidents of France and Russia is very timely and correct," Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday, when asked about the agreement between Russia and France to set up a joint task force to promote interaction in fighting terrorism.
"The composition of these groups, their functions, and regulations concerning their work are currently being considered in practical terms. Both parties are currently drafting the necessary document," she said.
Parliamentarians will also join these serious efforts, the speaker said.
"The Federation Council and the French Senate have established a very constructive interaction, cooperation, which neither sanctions, nor restrictions hamper," Matviyenko said.
