Kalashnikov concern ready to set up joint venture in India to produce assault rifles

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kalashnikov concern is considering possible establishment of a joint venture to manufacture assault rifles in India, director general of the enterprise Alexei Krivoruchko told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"We are willing to cooperate with any company, which will possess required permissions from Indian state bodies and a real possibility to set up such a production," he said.

"Of course, licensed production involves the transfer of technologies," he said.

The concern has already held preliminary talks with several Indian companies that dealt with the establishment of the licensed production of "the most advanced models of a AK-47 assault rifle" in this country, Krivoruchko earlier said in an interview with India's The Pioneer.
