Kremlin calls situation in Donbas internal Ukrainian conflict, civil war

MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - Russia is not occupying any territories in Ukraine, and the situation in Donbas is a civil war that can be stopped only by implementing the Minsk Agreements, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"It [territory in the south-east of Ukraine] is not under Russia's occupation. Russia is not occupying any territories," Peskov said responding to a question from a Ukrainian journalist.

What has been happening in Donbas is an internal Ukrainian conflict, he said.

"And if things are to be called by their proper names, it is a civil war," Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman said he was convinced that it could be stopped only by Ukraine itself, "only by Kyiv and by working to implement the Minsk Agreements," he said.
