MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed in principle to design a fifth-generation light fighter jet together, MiG Corporation General Director Ilya Tarasenko said on Wednesday.
"We are coordinating the project's timeframe at this stage," Tarasenko told the newspaper Kommersant in an interview.
He referred to the IDEX 2017 show in Abu Dhabi where "an agreement was signed with the UAE to declare the conceptual readiness of our colleagues to create a fifth-generation light multirole aircraft together with us."
"It has been decided in principle that we are taking this path," Tarasenko said.
The plane does not have a name 'so far', he said.
