Aliyev says Azerbaijan ready to liberate occupied territories

BAKU. June 14 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan is ready to liberate its lands from the occupation, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"The Azerbaijani state is now ready to liberate its lands. The April military clashes in the past year demonstrated that as well," Aliyev said in the village of Chojuk-Marjanly in the Jabrayil District on Wednesday.

Aliyev said he is confident that the Azerbaijani flag will fly above Nagorno-Karabakh. "The day will come, and our flag will fly above Shusha," he said.

"The occupation is a great injustice and the international standards are violated. But, unfortunately, double standards exist in the world. Despite the fact that the United Nations Security Council had adopted four resolutions demanding the irrevocable withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the occupied territories, Armenia doesn't abide by them and [the countries that] adopted those resolutions don't make it abide by them," Aliyev said.

Azerbaijan attaches a great importance to development and reinforcement of the army. "We are reinforcing our army and will restore our territorial integrity. The village of Chojuk-Marjanly is a clear evidence of it," Aliyev said, pointing out that Azerbaijan equips the army with the state-of-the-art weapons and military hardware.
